Join us for an enriching and social experience designed just for you. Whether you're interested in learning the latest technology through our Senior Planet classes or attending presentations on a variety of engaging topics, there's truly something for everyone. And if you don't see what you're looking for, we'd love to hear your suggestions—your interests help shape our offerings!

The Montrose Recreation District (MRD) is a licensed partner for AARPs Senior Planet Program. Senior Planet is the flagship program of the national nonprofit organization Older Adults Technology Services (OATS). The purpose of the Senior Planet program is to enable older adults to come together and find ways to learn, work, create, exercise and thrive in today’s digital age. Participants will have access to in-person classes, online classes, helpful articles and more. In person Class topics will range from smart phone help to keeping you safe online. Fees can be covered by MRD’s fee assistance program. No one will be turned away. If you need further fee assistance, also contact Liz via email or by calling 970-252-4884. All equipment and materials will be provided for all classes.

Session 19 – Exploring Senior Planet.org through AARP – With Senior Planet you can set up a free account. Practicing with Google Docs
This 2-session series will give you plenty of hands-on practice using Google Docs, a free alternative to Microsoft Word. You’ll learn to use grammar and spellcheck, download your documents in Word and PDF format, use Docs to collaborate with others, and more!

Using Google Sheets
From budgeting to event planning to keeping track of job applications, Google Sheets can help you get organized! Sheets is available for free to anyone with a Gmail account! In this 2-session workshop series, you’ll learn the basics of creating, sharing, and downloading spreadsheets with Google Sheets.

Using Google Slides for Presentations
Slides is Google’s presentation software and it’s available for free to anyone with a Gmail account! With Slides you can create presentations that can be downloaded as PDFs and in Microsoft PowerPoint format. In this 2-session workshop series, you’ll learn the basics of using templates, adding images and text, and sharing your presentations.

Computer Essentials Course – This 5-week course is designed as a beginner’s course for students who have little or no experience using the computer. It will cover using a mouse and a keyboard, getting to know word processing programs, how to connect to the internet, exploring websites, how to perform a web search, email, and online safety.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), established in 1967 and part of the Department of Public Safety, provides expert investigative, forensic, and data services to local, county, and state law enforcement agencies. Operating primarily "by request," the CBI handles complex cases, including homicides, cold cases, cybercrime, and human trafficking, while managing statewide criminal records and operating accredited labs.

Silverton Shady Ladies
During Silverton’s peak mining years, Silverton was starkly divided by Greene Street. The west side of town was respectable, home to churches, families, and businesses. The east side – specifically Blair Street was a raucous zone packed with up to 24 saloons, gambling dens and bordellos. A few notable women became legendary figures in San Juan County.

Morningstar Therapy Dogs
Morningstar Therapy Dogs have been helping members successfully share their therapy dogs with others since 2003. Their therapy dog teams has a strong community outreach program. They organize fund raisers, help in community crisis situations, and help others to build confidence as a certified dog therapy assistant.
