Outdoor Climbing Programs

These climbing programs are led by experienced guides or MRD staff. Come explore a new crag, route, or problem and build on those climbing skills!

Climbing with Kiki 

Outdoor Climbing is designed for youth and families who want to climb and explore a local Crag with Kiki. No experience nessicary. All gear and transportation provided.

Date: Saturday, October 10

Youth Rock Climbing w/ Mountain Trip 

Take your climbing skills outdoors! Whether you're experienced or new to indoor climbing, this outing is for all skill levels and led by experienced guides.

Youth Via Ferrata Trip with Mountain Trip 

Experience the thrill of Ouray’s Via Ferrata with Mountain Trip Guides! Climb stunning canyon walls using fixed cables and ladders, enjoying breathtaking views and expert guidance on this exhilarating alpine adventure.

Youth Ice Climbing

Learn to ice climb or hone your skills at the Ouray Ice Park with certified guides from Mountain Trip. It is recommended that participants have the ability to climb a 5.8 pitch on rock prior to participating in this activity.

This program will be available in winter of 2027!

 

Trip to Grip Bouldering in Grand Junction 

Join MRD on a special trip to this bouldering-only gym in Grand Junction. Work on established routes, build endurance on a trad wall, or build your own problem with Grip's specialized equipment!

Outdoor Climbing - Gym to Crag with Aaron Wilcox 

This clinic will teach you how to set up top rope anchors, belay, and leave no trace principles at the Dry Creek Crag, just a short drive from the Rec Center. Open to youth and families, all gear and transportation will be provided. The day will include a 3-mile round trip hike to the climbing area.
